Today was the perfect way to spend a Saturday. This morning, my little buddy woke me up at 6:30 to tell me he had made a bed for me in his room. So in I trudged to watch "A Bug's Life" with Porter Max. Khloe soon joined us to drink her morning bottle while Davy slept in. (Yesterday, he got up early to play golf, but after getting stood up, he took care of the kids and let me sleep in until 8:30 .) After Khloe finished her bottle, the three of us headed up to Fresh Donuts and Deli in Salt Lake for our weekly donut run. Their donuts are the very best. (I should know as my dad took us to get donuts at Winchell's every Saturday morning. Fresh Donuts used to be a Winchell's, so they taste the same.) Once we got home, Porter ran up to our room to get Davy with a "Wake up Daddy! The donuts are here!" After donuts and showers, we headed out to find Porter a new pair of cowboy boots, but to no avail. We did find Davy some new black Puma's and grabbed a little lunch at Five Guys.
Once home, Davy and the kids settled in while I ran to the store to grab our football munchies. At 5:00, we put on our cozies, turned on the BYU vs. Oklahoma Football Game, and dug into our Ruffles and dip: onion for Davy, and shrimp for me. Nervously, we watched waiting for Oklahoma to blow the game wide open. Much to our delight, that didn't happen. Instead, their Heisman Trophy winning quaterback got hurt, and BYU's defense was a powerhouse. We cheered quietly (as both Porter and Khloe were sound asleep in their beds) as the Cougs marched down the field and went up by one point with 3 mins left. Thankfully, the defense kept Oklahoma from scoring and the Cougs WON! They beat #3 Oklahoma! Davy and I cheered and high fived our giddy little selves. Then, Mom called just to share the excitement. Oh it was a great day to be a BYU Cougar fan! Both Davy and I grew up cheering for BYU, and today we passed the torch on to Porter. He does a great "Let's go Cougars! Da da da da da!" What a GREAT day spent as a McArthur family.
