Summer Harvest

This was the first year that I planted a garden. Here is my first crop of home-grown tomatoes. I picked about 13 the other day and made my first batch of salsa for the season.

Last year, I learned to can at Mom's, but this was my first attempt on my own.

And, it was successful!! The salsa was my dinner that night and my visiting teaching thought for my sisters for the month. I really am grateful to learn and practice these self-reliance skills. I am so grateful to have a mother who taught me to cook, bake bread, make butter cream frosting, sew, budget, and now can! Thanks Mom. I'm still trying to be like you in every way! And you can bet that when Khloe is old enough, she'll be right there on the stool with me.

What a great sense of accomplishment!
